The short answer

Works out your age on the age reference date the notice prints — which is usually not the closing date and never today — then checks it against the notice’s age band and the relaxation you can claim. Carries SSC’s full relaxation table from the CGL 2026 notice.

Where the relaxation figures come from

The dropdown uses the table printed at para 5.2 of SSC’s Combined Graduate Level Examination 2026 notice. In full:

Codes 10 to 13 work differently from the rest. They are not “add N years” — they set an absolute ceiling.

Codes 06, 08 and 09 need a calculation the tool cannot do for you, because the ESM figure depends on how long you served.

The date of birth that counts

Not the one on your Aadhaar, and not the one you remember.

Para 5.3 of the same notice: the date of birth filled in the online application and recorded in the Matriculation or Secondary Examination certificate is what the Commission accepts, and no subsequent request for a change is considered or granted.

If those two disagree, fix it before you apply, not after.

What this tool will not tell you

Whether you are eligible. It does arithmetic on the numbers you type in.

The age band varies by post within a single recruitment — CGL 2026 alone carries 18–27, 18–30, 20–30 and 18–32 depending on the post. Relaxations can also stack in ways the notice sets out and this tool does not model.

Read the age paragraph in your own notice, take its figures, and use this to check the sum.

How much age relaxation do SC and ST candidates get?

Five years beyond the upper age limit, per para 5.2 of the SSC CGL 2026 notice. OBC is 3 years, PwBD 10, PwBD (OBC) 13 and PwBD (SC/ST) 15. Every notice sets its own table — check yours.

Which date of birth does SSC accept?

The one recorded in your Matriculation or Secondary Examination certificate. Para 5.3 says no subsequent request for a change will be considered or granted.
