Selection Posts is the recruitment most people have never heard of and the one with the widest range of vacancies — a single notice covering posts across many User Departments, each with its own qualification and each recruited through one common computer based examination.

Phase-XIV/2026 opened on 13 April 2026 and closed on 4 May 2026. The rules below are the ones this recruitment runs on.

How is this different from CGL?

CGL is one examination for a defined list of Group B and C posts. Selection Posts is a container: the Commission advertises whatever posts User Departments have asked it to fill in that phase, at qualification levels from matriculation upward.

The consequence is that you apply post by post. The vacancies are listed in an annexure to the notice, and each carries its own essential qualification, age limit and experience requirement.

The notice states plainly that the vacancies are tentative, and that the Commission reserves the right to alter, change, cancel, withdraw or merge any or all of them.

What does it cost, and who is exempt?

₹100, online only — BHIM UPI, net banking, or a Visa, Master, Maestro card, or a RuPay credit or debit card.

Exempt: women candidates, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation. OBC and EWS candidates pay.

The fee once paid is not refunded under any circumstances, and cannot be adjusted against another examination or selection.

What did the crucial date fix?

4 May 2026 — the closing date — for claiming SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD or ESM status, fee concession and reservation.

Para 3.4 states what that does not mean: “The crucial date here does not mean that the date of certificate(s) should be before the closing date of application, it means that on the crucial date, the candidate(s) must fall under the categories.”

And for OBC candidates specifically, para 3.2 carries a note worth knowing about: “The Commission will not insist on candidates producing OBC certificate issued within crucial/cut-off date.”

EWS candidates needed an Income & Asset certificate valid for FY 2026-2027, issued on the basis of income for FY 2025-2026.

Scribe and compensatory time

Section 9 of the notice sets this out, and it is more generous than most candidates realise.

For blindness, locomotor disability with both arms affected, and cerebral palsy, a scribe is provided on request in the online form with the disability certificate uploaded alongside.

For other benchmark disabilities, a certificate of physical limitation to write from the CMO, Civil Surgeon or Medical Superintendent of a Government health care institution is required, in the notice’s Annexure-IA.

For candidates with less than 40% disability who have difficulty writing, the notice cites DEPwD O.M. No. 29-6/2019-DD-III dated 10 August 2022 and asks for its certificates.

Two provisions that go further than the guidelines require:

• Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour is given even to candidates who are entitled to a scribe but choose not to use one
• A candidate’s own scribe must complete One Time Registration and Aadhaar authentication, and must not be a candidate in the same examination — if they are, both candidatures are cancelled

The form rules that reject applications

The photograph is captured live by the application module. Candidates are not required to have a pre-existing photograph, and photographing an existing photograph leads to summary rejection.

No cap, no mask, no spectacles. Full frontal view. Plain background, camera at eye level.

The signature must be scanned, JPEG or JPG, 10 to 20 KB, about 6.0 cm wide by 2.0 cm high. Blurred or miniature signatures are rejected summarily.

All of that is switched off for candidates who use Aadhaar-based authentication: their applications are not rejected on photograph or signature grounds, and they need not carry photographs or original photo-ID to the examination venue.

Your candidature is provisional throughout

Para 1 of the notice, with one phrase in capitals: “The candidature of applicants shall be purely PROVISIONAL at all stages of the recruitment process.”

The Commission does not verify the details you fill in. Documents are uploaded after the computer based examination result by candidates who qualified, and scrutiny is carried out by the User Department concerned.
